Ken Vu is Senior Patent Counsel and Managing Attorney at Qualcomm, Inc. in San Diego since 2005. His responsibilities include providing legal advice for patent litigation, prosecution, acquisition, licensing, IP strategy, and related legal issues. Ken has been involved in a number of litigation matters across numerous jurisdictions including International Trade Commission (ITC), US district courts, German patent courts, and Chinese IP courts.
Prior to joining Qualcomm, Ken was the first patent counsel hired at start-up Applied Medical Resources in Orange County, California, to build and manage its patent portfolio. Before going in-house, Ken was in private practice at Morrison & Foerster and DLA Piper in Washington, D.C. He also worked as an Electrical Engineer at Raytheon in Falls Church, Virginia, before law school. Ken is a 1996 graduate of George Washington Univ. Law School, where he was a member of Law Review. Ken received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech (1988) and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins Univ. (1991). Ken also received his certificate for management training from the Harvard Business School Club of San Diego. Ken is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. In 2018, Ken was a recipient of the First Chair Award for “Top Intellectual Property Counsel.”
